If you are travelling to Brazil from the US, you will need a tourist visa for Brazil. There are other important requirements that you must keep in mind as you travel to this amazing country:
Your passport
Your passport should be valid for 6 months beyond your stay in Brazil. It should have at least one blank passport page for a Brazilian visa stamp. Amendment pages located at the back of the passport are not for visa stamps.
You need one signed Brazil visa application form plus one copy. Remember that only online Brazilian visa applications are accepted. Forms that are improperly completed may cause the delay of the processing of your visa. Online forms should be filled completely with every question answered. Remember that your signature should appear inside the designated signature box located on the receipt page. Use this form at once since this expires within 30 days.
Travelling with minors
If you are travelling with minors to Brazil, you need to submit a notarized copy of their birth certificate as well as a letter of consent signed by each parent that is listed on the child’s birth certificate. These documents should be carried at all times together with the child’s passport. Different US states have different requirements to carry along with a child’s passport in a visit to Brazil.
Visa validity
The tourist visa for Brazil that you have for travel to Brazil is valid per visit at the discretion of the Brazilian Consulate. There are visas that are valid for long duration (for 5 to 10 years from the day issued) and there are short term visas (valid for 30 to 90 days).
All visa holders, regardless of nationality or visa validity date, may only stay in the country for only 90 days per year. An extension may be granted by the Federal Police Department in Brazil. However, stay cannot exceed 180 days a year.
If your travel visa is valid and your passport expires, you will be able to get a new passport as you stay in the country through quick or urgent passport services. You need to carry the old and the new passport as you travel.
